Divorce, Annulment of Marriage and Dissolution of Civil Partnerships

After a marriage or civil partnership has broken down many people feel the need to legally end their relationship. This can be done by way of a divorce, annulment, judicial separation or by dissolving the civil partnership.

From 6th April 2022, the 'no fault' divorce came into force which means that a divorce can now be applied for jointly and without the need for one spouse to ‘blame’ the other for the breakdown of the marriage. This can create a more positive approach to the divorce and can also aid discussions concerning arrangements for children and the division of property and assets.

Tolson Family Law can provide guidance as to the options available to ensure that the legal formalities are concluded in a straight forward and civilised manner.

Separation

When couples who have lived together separate, the legal issues involved can be complicated, especially where property rights are concerned. Tolson Family Law can help you to understand your legal rights and assist with negotiations to help resolve disputes. If a negotiated agreement is not possible, we can also manage court proceedings.
